Save the Children US Names Abdul Jabbar Ghayoor Chief Financial Officer
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 5, 2026)— Save the Children US today announced the appointment of Abdul Jabbar Ghayoor as its new Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he leads the organization’s financial strategy and stewards resources to maximize impact for children in the U.S. and around the world.
"We’re excited to welcome Abdul Jabbar to Save the Children. His two decades of financial leadership experience across international development and humanitarian response come at a pivotal time for our organization and sector," said President and CEO, Janti Soeripto. "His expertise will be instrumental in helping us navigate an ever-changing funding landscape amid rising global needs, ensuring we can continue showing up for children and families when and where they need us the most."
Prior to joining Save the Children, Ghayoor held senior leadership roles including Vice President of Finance and Risk Management at The Bridgespan Group, where he oversaw global financial operations, systems transformation, and multi‑country compliance. He also served with the Trevor Project, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Global Communities, and Chemonics International in Asia, the Middle East, and West Africa.
"I’m honored to join Save the Children US as its new CFO,” said Ghayoor. "This mission is deeply personal to me. My own experience as a refugee in Pakistan instilled a lifelong commitment to helping others — especially children and youth — access the opportunities they need to thrive. I look forward to contributing to a global humanitarian organization whose work reflects those values every day."
Ghayoor has dedicated his career to mission-driven organizations focused on public health, education, equity, and peace. He currently serves as a board member and treasurer for ATD Fourth World USA, and on the President’s Leadership Council of Search for Common Ground.
He holds master’s degrees in accounting and finance, is fluent in Persian, Urdu, Hindi, Pashto, and English, and lives with his wife and son in Virginia.
