FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 29, 2025)—Save the Children, together with three corporate partners, has been honored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation in the 2025 Citizens Awards. This prestigious program celebrates businesses for leading innovative solutions that leverage their talent, resources, and expertise to solve the world's biggest challenges. Save the Children earned top recognition in the Best Education and Workforce category with The Dollar General Literacy Foundation as well as the Best Health and Wellness Program with The Pfizer Foundation, and was also named a finalist with Mattel for the Best Corporate Steward: Large Business award.
"Save the Children is proud to be recognized alongside The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, The Pfizer Foundation, and Mattel for our shared commitment to creating sustainable, positive change for children and families in the U.S. and around the world," said Clare Rodger, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer at Save the Children US. "Our work would not be possible without the unwavering support of our partners. Receiving two U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Citizen Awards—and being a finalist for a third—is a powerful testament to what's possible when we come together across sectors. We look forward to building on this momentum to keep delivering lasting impact for children everywhere."
Best Education and Workforce Citizen Award—The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) and Save the Children are helping transform early childhood education in rural America through data-driven solutions. Made possible with the support of DGLF, the Rural Child Well-Being Dashboards provide localized insights on child poverty, education, and childcare access, shaping programs in more than 250 communities across 14 states. With $10.3 million invested since 2018, the partnership has reached nearly one million children annually, supporting kindergarten readiness, literacy and math proficiencies, workforce development, and food security. This strategic collaboration is helping build more resilient communities, where children thrive as learners and in life.
Best Health and Wellness Program Citizen Award—The Pfizer Foundation and Save the Children partnered to reduce child mortality and morbidity in two underserved regions of Ethiopia, where vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, cholera and malaria threaten children under five. The two organizations launched the Pneumonia and Child Immunization Project, which improves immunization delivery and strengthens health systems. Together, the partnership is reducing child mortality and building healthier, more resilient communities where children can thrive.
Best Corporate Steward: Large Business Award Finalist— Mattel Play it Forward and Save the Children have partnered for over 20 years to expand play, education, and emergency support for children globally. This initiative has reached millions across 12+ countries through toy donations, employee volunteerism and cause marketing. Mattel employees contribute thousands of hours annually building libraries, distributing learning kits, and supporting disaster relief. The partnership integrates philanthropy with brand storytelling, enhances employee engagement, and leverages retail collaborations for amplified impact.
The winners of the 2025 Citizens Awards were announced during the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Business Solves Conference on October 28, 2025. Learn more about the awards program here.
