K-Pop Star Park Jin-young Buys Thousands of Save the Children Meals as a Birthday Gift for His Fans
SEOUL (September 22, 2025) – South Korean actor and singer Park Jin-young has donated 100 million won ($72,000) to support children's meals in celebration of his 31st birthday on September 22, Save the Children said.
The donation is aimed at providing warm meals to children from low-income families ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday – a mid-autumn festival and national holiday in South Korea.
Park Jin-young said: "I believe I can continue to move forward with the love and support of many fans, and I've been thinking about how I can return the great love you've sent me.
"I'm grateful that I can do even a little bit to protect the smiles of children, and I will continue to act and sing with sincerity and do my best."
The donations will be used to provide special meals to families with children at risk of skipping meals or experiencing a gap in care due to financial and childcare difficulties.
Park Jin-young was appointed a member of Save the Children Korea's Honors Club in February 2023 after donating 30 million won ($22,000) to emergency relief efforts for the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
He has since donated 30 million won ($22,000) in April 2025 to help children and families affected by the earthquake in Myanmar.
Save the Children is currently implementing the "2025 Special Meal Support Project for Children" from August to December in South Korea, targeting 2,063 children under the age of 18 from low-income families nationwide.
This project includes providing cooler bags and ice packs, special meals, and kitchen improvements to ensure children at risk of hunger have access to healthy meals.
Save the Children Korea was established in 1953 in the aftermath of the Korean war and began its transformation from being a recipient of international aid to becoming a donor country. In Korea, Save the Children is a leading organization addressing child rights issues in child protection and a major contributor to the global Save the Children movement.
