Chief Policy Officer, Save the Children US
Christy Gleason is Chief Policy Officer at Save the Children US. In this role, she leads efforts to advance policies to improve the lives of children in the United States and around the world.
Christy joined Save the Children in 2021 as Vice President of Policy, Advocacy & Campaigns and as Executive Director of Save the Children Action Network (SCAN). With over twenty years of policy and campaign experience at the local and federal level, Christy draws from a depth of knowledge in domestic and global policy to make an even greater impact for kids. Under her leadership, Save the Children has become a trusted voice for children with advocates committed to ensuring every child has a strong start in life.
Prior to Save the Children, Christy served as strategist and policy advisor to Senator Chris Coons, advising him on a wide range of policy issues, including foreign policy, global health, education, appropriations and ethics. She engaged with constituents to connect local voices to the legislative process, serving as a liaison to non-profits, faith and diaspora communities, and other groups. Before working in Congress, Christy managed several electoral campaigns, served as senior staff in county government and as chief of staff for state legislators in New Jersey.
Christy has been featured in a variety of prominent media and is sought after for her insights on children’s rights, public policy and advocacy. She has been quoted in outlets such as Associated Press, Fast Company, The Hill, The New York Times and The Washington Post. She has spoken at engagements hosted by Tufts Global Diplomacy Institute, moderated public forums for gubernatorial candidates and briefed members of Congress on key issues facing children.
Christy holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in international relations from American University, and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. She lives in Wilmington, Delaware, with her husband and son.
