Chief Impact Officer
Betsy Zorio serves as Chief Impact Officer at Save the Children US, where she leads the organization’s international and U.S. programs, overseeing efforts to strengthen and measure impact for children worldwide.
Since joining Save the Children in 2006, Betsy has held several leadership roles, most recently as Vice President of U.S. Programs. In that capacity, she oversaw the organization’s domestic emergency response and recovery programs as well as early childhood and elementary education initiatives in more than 250 rural communities across 14 states. This includes everything from home visiting and Head Start to in-school and after school programs, as well as food security initiatives. Most notably, Betsy led the shift to working collaboratively with communities to develop and implement strategies for ensuring all children reach the critical milestones of kindergarten readiness, third grade reading proficiency, and fifth grade math proficiency.
In 2014, Betsy helped launch Save the Children’s political advocacy arm, Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), and served in varying roles, including Chief of Staff and acting President in 2021. In 2023, she also served as Interim Country Director for Save the Children in Bangladesh.
Prior to joining Save the Children, Betsy spent over five years at Special Olympics and a year at Best Buddies, driven by her passion for helping individuals reach their full potential.
A recognized voice in early childhood education, particularly in rural America, Betsy has been featured in outlets such as CBS News, NPR, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Park Record (Utah). She has spoken at conferences including Concordia’s Lexington Summit and meets regularly with policymakers on Capitol Hill and in state capitals to advocate for children’s education across the U.S.
Betsy holds a bachelor's degree in government and politics from George Mason University, where she led the campus chapter of Best Buddies for three years. She lives in Park City, Utah, with her wife and son.
