"The more we contribute, the more we are able to help others – it is a karmic force."
Teresa Devick
A Family Legacy of Giving
Teresa and RJ Devick and their daughters are a global family – two of their three girls were adopted from South Korea and Ethiopia, and all three of them were raised to be successful, independent women. Together, the family has supported Save the Children for more than 15 years.
The Devicks contribute regularly to our ongoing efforts to reach vulnerable girls and boys around the world. Teresa and RJ have also included Save the Children in their wills.
When they began their philanthropy, their efforts were focused on many organizations. As the years went on, they began to narrow their support to a few groups whose work closely aligns with their own philanthropic priorities. In this way, they are able to support the major efforts of a few organizations rather than smaller pieces at many.
Teresa and RJ were already engaged with Save the Children and they liked the fact that we work domestically and internationally. Ramping up their support for Save the Children and including us in their estate plans was an obvious choice.
The couple says they have been "crazily blessed" and feel fortunate to be able to help those in need. "The more we contribute, the more we are able to help others – it is a karmic force," says Teresa. The Devicks consider Save the Children their conduit to creating change in the lives of those in need.
By including Save the Children in your will or living trust, you ensure we can continue to answer the call when crisis strikes. Contact the Planned Giving team at [email protected] to learn more.
